Month of Chesvan – Scorpio

Month of Chesvan – Scorpio

Embracing the New Lunar Month

As we enter the month of Cheshvan, we enter a time of quiet, sacred emptiness, a sanctuary for deep listening. Cheshvan is a month where the soul gathers herself in the silence, much like the earth receiving the first rains. This is a time when we allow divine wisdom to descend, nurturing unseen places within us, preparing the heart for transformation. There are no official festivals in Cheshvan, no outward celebrations, inviting us to turn inward and deepen our relationship with the divine presence within.

In Hebrew Mysticism and Gnostic tradition, Cheshvan -Scorpio was created by the Aramaic – Hebrew letter Nun (נ), a letter representing resilience and rebirth. Nun has a particular potency as it embodies the hidden teachings of the Divine Feminine, known as the “33 Codes of Divine Wisdom.” These codes activate in the silent spaces of our consciousness, inviting us into a mystical descent where, like a seed in the earth, we discover the sacred potential for renewal within every challenge. Nun encourages us to surrender to the cycles of death and rebirth, trusting that from every descent arises new light and understanding. In embodying the teachings of Nun, we align ourselves with resilience and receptivity, opening to the hidden, ancient wisdom residing in our ancestral memory.

The energy of Cheshvan is reflected in a powerful passage from the Gospel of Mary Magdalene: “Do not lay down any rules beyond what I determined for you, nor promulgate law like the lawgiver, lest you be constrained by it.” This teaching mirrors Cheshvan’s call to unstructured introspection. During this month, we step away from rigid structures, allowing the heart to become our guide. This quote invites us into a state of receptivity, free from external validations or strict beliefs, allowing us to connect with the quiet, inner sanctuary of wisdom.

This year, Cheshvan aligns with Samhain on October 31st, deepening its symbolic resonance. Both Cheshvan and Samhain honor the thinning veil between worlds, a time when we are invited to connect with the unseen realms, to honor the ancestors, and to reflect on the mysteries of life, death, and rebirth. In Aramaic and Hebrew, Cheshvan is known as the “bitter” month, traditionally a time of sorrow for its lack of outward festivals but profoundly sacred for its invitation to journey inward.

Zeraa Mudra: Seeding Your Intentions

To align with the month of Cheshvan, practice the Zeraa Mudra, a sacred gesture that symbolizes the seeding of divine potential. Sit quietly, holding the mudra, and visualize what you wish to cultivate in your life. See it in its purest form, radiant with potential, as if it already exists within the light of creation. Imagine this vision cradled within the warmth of divine light, held like a seed ready to grow.

Sacred Oils and Herbs of Cheshvan

To deepen into Cheshvan’s energies, I like to work with the Biblical oil of Myrtle. Myrtle symbolizes purification and renewal. Known for its grounding properties, Myrtle helps cleanse and support the emotional depth required this month.

Alongside Myrtle, the herb Rosemary supports mental clarity and introspection. Rosemary’s invigorating nature opens the mind to new insights, allowing us to remember and integrate the wisdom we uncover in silence.

Aramaic Mantra for Chesvan – Scorpio:

Rukha d’Qudsha Alaha d’Rakhamim

  • Translation: “Holy Spirit, Mother – Father God of Compassion”
  • This mantra invokes the Shekhinah’s compassionate, nurturing presence during a month known for deep emotional and spiritual healing. Repeating this can center the soul in divine love and protection.

As we walk through Cheshvan, may we be blessed with the courage to enter the inner stillness, honoring the Divine Feminine presence as Shekhinah, who accompanies us in this journey of healing, renewal, and the quiet unfolding of our truest potential.

Here are ten affirmations for the month of Chesvan-Scorpio:
