Equinox Medicine
“Transform yourself for the sake of the world.
Learn to practice thinking, feeling, sensing, and willing without egoism.
Let your work be the shadow that your I casts
when it is shone upon by the flame of your higher self.”
Dr. Rudolf Steiner
Equinox Blessings for those of us in the Northern Hemisphere and for those of you in the Southern Hemisphere. As I am in the Northern Hemisphere, I will start talking about what awaits us and then I continue with some information for those in the Southern Hemisphere.
Most of us in the Northern Hemisphere have already felt the energy of the Autumn Equinox and of Mabon. Since the Summer Solstice and then Lammas, I have noticed in my morning practice that the Sun comes out so much later. Although I am a lover of the Summer, the Sun, the heat, walking barefoot in my Gypsy dresses and feeling carefree, there is something about this time of the year that takes me so deep into communion with my soul. As I finish my last chant every morning, the Bshem Adonai, it is still dark, I go to my garden to greet the trees and stay there until the Sun slowly starts to reveal its light. What an auspicious moment.
Autumn Equinox marks a deepening into the quiet season, the cave, the womb energy, celebrating the harvest time and coming into stillness. It is the earth’s moment to be in between, weaving light and dark into balance. This total balance is where things can change, as it is an opportunity to invoke the communion of opposites that will bring a new reality.
Instead of springing forth from the surface of the earth, life withdraws, contracts and is naturally drawn down into the planet. And from this time until the Vernal Equinox the earth passes through a natural period of cleansing in preparation for the Spring.
The word equinox is derived from the Latin aequus meaning “equal” and nox meaning “night”. After this day the nights will grow longer until the Winter Solstice when we meet the largest night of the year.
As the Sun enters the sign of Libra, we are given the teachings of balancing opposites and see them as parts of the whole. The darkness and the light within, contraction and expansion, the old and the new. Everything co-exists together and we need both sides in order to be balanced. This is the ultimate Tantra as we transcend duality.
In this time of the year, it is important to pause and appreciate all the gifts and the help (Divine and Human) that we receive. This will open our hearts and increase the flow of love and abundance in our life.
The double Spiral is one of the Symbols of the Equinox. It symbolizes the duality of everything about our world. The duality of nature, life and death, the eternal balance, opposites and how they complement each other, yin and yang, birth with death, feminine with masculine, sun and moon, light and darkness, day and night. It illustrates the in-breath and out-breath, the point of balance between the worlds, the inner and outer journey.
The ancient Egyptians celebrated an Autumnal Festival dedicated to the mother goddess Hathor, the Divine Cow. It was a forty-day festival that celebrated the union of Hathor and Horus, an Egyptian Christ. The child of this union, Harsomtus, was born in the forty days of celebration.
For the Desert Rose Traditions, Forty is the numerical value of the Aramaic letter מ Mem. The number 40 refers to a long period of time in which a lot of mystical death must occur within the waters of Yesod (Our Womb Space). Yeshua taught that one must be reborn in the Divine Mother within the 40 Days of Water Creation. For this reason, it is a wonderful moment to start a 40 day practice – commitment – spiritual journey.
For those of you in the Southern Hemisphere, although you are getting ready for the Light and the Spark of life, you are still connected to these teachings through the Zodiacal Frequency of Libra. I see the Southern Hemisphere as that part of the world alchemizing strongly as you initiate life (Spring Equinox) within the Divine Union of the Opposites. This is also a great time to start a 40 day practice, commitment, spiritual journey.
Let us remember that on the equinoxes and solstices, this is the time of the year that the Souls who have not left the electromagnetic field of the earth can now move on to the Light Realms. Remember to pray for these Souls.
Also remember that we get powerful DNA Upgrades on these Portals, so spend some time in Meditation and Moving the Body so as to create space to let these upgrades occur. It is also very important to take rest.
Reflection Question for those of us Diving into the Cave Season:
Who we are meant to become lives inside of us. Is it possible to become who we are meant to become if we continue to hold on to what we are in this moment? A seed cannot become a tree without first dying as a seed. How can we become angels if we do not die to what makes us demons?
Let us heal, awaken, process and integrate. May we always know that our true essence is Divine Light and Divine Love.
The Maryams are covering us with their Holy Mantles.
Ahava,
