The Gospel of Philip: Awakening is Incarnational

The Gospel of Philip

Resurrect While Alive

“What you say, you say in a body; you can say nothing outside this body. You must awaken while in this body, for everything exists in it: Resurrect in this life.”

— Gospel of Philip

This passage from the Gospel of Philip carries one of the deepest mystical revelations within the early Christian mysteries:

Awakening is incarnational.

Again and again, different paths of spirituality and religion have attempted to separate the soul from the body, as though enlightenment were achieved by transcending human existence rather than inhabiting it fully. Yet the Gospel of Philip reveals something radically different.

The body is not the obstacle to awakening.
The body is the sanctuary through which awakening becomes embodied.

Everything exists within this incarnation.

Love,
grief,
memory,
wounding,
ecstasy,
creation,
longing,
fear,
beauty,
union,
and Divine Presence itself.

We cannot awaken outside the body because the soul came into incarnation precisely so consciousness could become embodied within human life.

Resurrection is the gradual awakening of Divine Presence within us while we are still alive. It is the moment the soul begins breathing consciously through the body once more.

“Resurrect in this life.”

Do not wait to become luminous after death.
Do not wait to embody the soul later.
Do not wait to love fully later.
Do not wait to awaken later.

Resurrection begins the moment Divine Presence becomes alive within the sanctuary of incarnation itself.

This is also why Mary Magdalene is so important within the path of embodied awakening. She represents the soul fully surrendered to Divine Love within humanity.

She remains present within the body:
through grief,
through devotion,
through longing,
through suffering,
through resurrection.

And because she remains fully present, she becomes capable of recognizing the Risen One.

Perhaps this is the deeper mystery: only the soul willing to remain fully embodied can recognize resurrection when it appears.

The Gospel of Philip therefore reveals a path of sacred incarnation.

The body is no longer seen as separate from Spirit.
The body is the place where Spirit descends.
The sanctuary where Shekhinah dwells.
The vessel through which Rucha D´Koodsha (the Holy Spirit) breathes.
The living temple through which Christ Consciousness becomes embodied within the Earth.

And perhaps this is the invitation of the Magdalene path itself: to resurrect while fully alive. To allow Divine Love to become so embodied within us that the soul is no longer hidden beneath fear, separation, or illusion, but revealed radiantly through every aspect of our human existence.

May your resurrection become the sacred moment when you no longer wait at the threshold of life, but fully enter the sanctuary of your own becoming.

I have shared a beautiful video below of Sami Yusuf and Musicians singing John of the Cross in Spanish and Arabic. When I watch this video and listen to Sami Yusuf´s sacred music, this quote from the Gospel of Philip and even words from St Teresa of Ávila come to my experience.

Wishing you a radiant day.
