I would like to share this beautiful Song with you: Los caminos de Sirkeci (The roads of Sirkeci).
This song is in Ladino, a mix of Spanish and Hebrew when the Jews lived in Spain.
Even if you cannot understand, listen to the frequency. Read first:
The song tells the story of a lover who journeys along sandy roads to see his beloved—“the morena.” He speaks of love, wanting to be together frequently, or even marry her if simple romance isn’t enough. However, their relationship begins lightheartedly, sharing drinks and joy, but ultimately ends in bitterness and separation. The lover expresses disillusionment, especially because promises made by her father—perhaps of dowries or support—were not fulfilled. In the end, he rejects her entirely, saying he wouldn’t take her back even for something worthless.
Mystical Reflection:
“Los caminos de Sirkigí” is more than a tale of romantic heartbreak, it mirrors the soul’s journey through attachment, illusion, and awakening.
1. The Path of Desire (The sandy roads):
The “roads filled with sand” symbolize the shifting, unstable path of longing. When we walk toward something from desire alone, whether love, success, or belonging, we may find ourselves walking unstable terrain, full of illusions and unmet expectations.
2. The ‘Morena’ as the Divine Feminine:
In mystical traditions, the “Morena” (dark woman) often symbolizes the hidden face of the Divine Feminine, Shekhinah, the Beloved, the soul’s longing for union. At first, we may pursue Her from our ego or sensual desires, mistaking romantic or material fulfillment for spiritual truth.
3. From Sweetness to Bitterness:
The initial joy (drinks, gatherings, promises) turns into “words of bitterness.” This represents the disillusionment phase of the spiritual path, when we realize that surface connections or worldly agreements (like dowries or titles) cannot satisfy the soul.
4. Sacred Refusal:
The rejection at the end, though harsh, reflects a deeper liberation from illusion. The soul begins to say: “I will no longer be bought, seduced, or compromised.” This is the fierce clarity that burns through false promises to make room for true inner alignment.
How to Mystically Receive This:
- Ask yourself: What promises (inner or outer) have led me away from my truth?
- Reflect on any place where you have sought love, validation, or security through external approval or illusions.
- Recognize the “bitterness” not as failure, but as a holy invitation to return to your sovereignty.
- Let the “morena” become the inner Divine Feminine—no longer chased, but now integrated within.
- Use the song as a chant or meditation on discerning between the sensual and the sacred, and on the transformation of disillusionment into wisdom. Maybe you can dance your transformation into Wisdom!
