Magdalene – Christos Equinox Ritual for Divine Union

Mary Magdalene has become, throughout the years of my own spiritual journey, a profound teacher of embodiment.

Since my first apparition of Mary Magdalene in 2011, my relationship with Her has continued to deepen, transform and reveal new dimensions of the Mysteries. I have walked with Her as a teacher of Her Mysteries, but I have also remained a student of Her revelations, allowing what I thought I understood to open again and again into something greater.

Through this journey, I have arrived at a place where the Magdalene and the Christos have become One within my path. I experience them as High Holy Teachers, and also as living frequencies and archetypes through which the mystery of Divine Union is continually revealed.

Their union has taught me that wholeness does not ask one part of who we are to disappear so that another may exist. One part of ourselves does not become sacred through the exclusion of another. The feminine and masculine, the human and Divine, the earthly and heavenly, the receptive and expressive—each can remain fully alive while entering into a deeper communion with the other.

Perhaps this is one of the great mysteries of Divine Union: we do not become One by becoming the same.

We become One by remembering the wholeness that can hold everything we are.

This is how I have come to understand the Magdalene–Christos within my own path. Not as two opposing forces seeking completion through one another, but as distinct expressions of a single sacred mystery. Each carries its own presence, its own revelation, its own frequency, and yet within their meeting something greater is revealed.

They are two expressions revealing the One.

Perhaps this is why the Equinox offers such a beautiful threshold for entering the Magdalene–Christos mystery.

Light and darkness meet without either ceasing to be what it is. One does not need to overcome the other. For a sacred moment, they stand together in equilibrium, revealing that difference and union can exist simultaneously.

Nature herself brings us to the place of meeting.

And within that meeting, we are invited to remember that nothing within us needs to be exiled in order for us to become whole. We can enter into sacred relationship with the many dimensions of who we are, allowing what once appeared divided to return to communion.

This is the invitation of the Equinox.

This is the mystery of Magdalene and Christos.

 Divine Union:

the remembrance of the One within the many, and the many forever held within the One.

For this ritual, I invite you to work with spikenard oil if you have it, if not, you can use another oil, even olive oil.

Spikenard brings us into one of the most intimate mysteries of Mary Magdalene: Maryam approaching Yeshua with the alabaster jar, opening what was precious, and anointing Him with its fragrant oil.

I return to this image again and again.

Mary Magdalene does not remain at the edges of this sacred moment. She enters fully into it. She pours. She touches. She anoints. Her devotion becomes action; her knowing becomes embodied.

And then there is her hair.

As Maryam loosens her hair and brings it into the anointing, I experience another mystery unfolding: she too becomes unveiled. Something intimate is revealed. The alabaster vessel opens, the fragrance is released, and something within Mary Magdalene opens with it.

She is not simply offering the spikenard. She brings herself into the offering—her body, her devotion, her courage, her love, her recognition of Yeshua.

There are times when what is precious needs to remain within the vessel, protected and allowed to mature. And there are times when the vessel must open.

Perhaps there is something within you that has been gathering its fragrance for a long time—a truth, a gift, a creation, a deeper expression of who you are.

The anointing invites us to enter the sacred meeting between what has been concealed and what is now ready to be revealed. Revelation does not erase what has been hidden. It brings it into relationship with what is already visible, creating a new balance within us.

The vessel opens.

The fragrance is released.

What has been held within enters into relationship with the life we are already living.

Before beginning the anointing, ask yourself:

What within me is ready to move from concealment into revelation?

What is asking to be revealed so that a deeper balance can emerge within me?

How might what I have kept hidden come into sacred relationship with what I already express in the world?

And what new wholeness becomes possible when the concealed and the revealed are finally allowed to meet?

Preparing the Oil

Place a small amount of olive oil in a small container and add a few drops of spikenard.

Hold the oil between your hands for a moment.

Close your eyes and breathe.

Then say:

Magdalene and Christos,
awaken within me the ancient template of Divine Union.
May what has been divided return to sacred relationship.
May what is united within me become blessing in the world.

Anoint the Heart — Divine Union

Take a little oil and anoint the center of your heart.

As you touch your heart, feel the meeting place within you—the place where the human and Divine, receiving and offering, feminine and masculine, Earth and Heaven can encounter one another.

Say:

May the template of Divine Union awaken within my heart.
May I remember the wholeness that has always lived within me.

Remain here for several breaths.

Anoint the Womb — Sacred Creation

Bring a small amount of oil to your womb space (men and women).

The womb is the sacred chamber of creation, the place within us from which visions, relationships, teachings, art, possibilities and new ways of being can be brought into form.

At Equinox, we bless what is created through balance and communion.

Say:

I bless the sacred center of creation within me.
May what is conceived through love, balance and unity
become a blessing for Life.

Feel what is waiting to be born through you.

Do not force an answer.

Listen.

Anoint the Feet — Walking Divine Union upon the Earth

Finally, anoint your feet.

This is important because Divine Union is not meant to remain an inner concept or a beautiful spiritual experience.

It must eventually touch the Earth.

Our feet are where the body meets the ground. They remind us that incarnation is a relationship with the Earth beneath us, with humanity around us and with the life we are actually living.

As you anoint your feet, say:

May I walk upon the Earth in remembrance of the One.
May every step deepen my communion with the Earth and humanity.
May I become a living expression of Divine Union.

Pause and feel the ground beneath you.

You are bringing the sacred into the way you walk upon the Earth.

The Rose Waters of Shlāmā

Now take your rose.

Slowly remove several petals, one at a time, and place them into your bowl of water.

Watch the petals touch the surface.

The rose now enters the waters.

Place both hands gently into the bowl.

And begin to chant in Aramaic:

Shlāmā

ܫܠܡܐ

Shlāmā is commonly translated as peace, yet its meaning reaches more deeply into wholeness, completeness, well-being and restoration.

Chant as a remembrance of wholeness.

Let the sound move through your hands and into the water.

Shlāmā.

Shlāmā.

Shlāmā.

Allow yourself to feel that you are remembering and awakening the wholeness that exists beneath fragmentation.

Continue chanting for at least three minutes with your hands immersed in the rose water.

Feel the vibration of your voice.

Feel the water against your skin.

Feel the Earth beneath you.

Let the chant become simpler and simpler until you are no longer thinking about the word.

You are inhabiting it.

After three minutes, slowly remove your hands from the water.

If the chant wants to continue, allow it to continue.

When you finally arrive in silence, place your hands over your heart.

Prayer of Divine Union

Recite:

Magdalene and Christos,
awaken within me the remembrance of the One.
May what is divided return to wholeness.
May Love take form through my body,
my creations and my life.
May I walk in Shlāmā with the Earth and one another.
Amen. AHAVA.

Offering the Waters to the Earth

Carry the bowl outside. Find a place upon the Earth that calls to you—a tree, a garden, a piece of land, somewhere you can offer the waters directly to the ground.

Hold the bowl for a moment before pouring.

The ritual began by receiving.

It ends by giving.

Pour the rose waters slowly onto the Earth.

You may simply whisper:

Shlāmā upon the Earth.
Shlāmā within humanity.
Shlāmā within all Life.

And then allow the Earth to receive the offering.

The water that touched your hands, received the rose and carried the vibration of your prayer now returns to the land.

The circle is complete.

After the Ritual — The Equinox Reflection

Take some time to journal afterward.

• What within me is asking to return to wholeness?
• What part of myself am I ready to unveil and allow to be seen?
• What is being conceived within me through greater balance and Divine Union?
• What am I ready to embody—not only spiritually, but through the way I walk upon the Earth?

At Equinox, we remember that Divine Union is not only something we experience within. It is something we are called to embody, create from, and ultimately pour back into the Earth.
