The Equinox has marked the beginning of Libra season, and I would like to share with you a practice I have worked with for many years and often bring into my one-to-one sessions: The Holy Body Mysteries.
Within this practice, I map the parts of the body traditionally associated with each zodiacal frequency and bring them into relationship with the High Holy Teachers of the Christ Lineage, the Angelic Realm, and the sacred archetypes and elemental forces of Creation. Through these correspondences, we approach the body as a living spiritual landscape—one we can listen to, enter into dialogue with, pray with, and contemplate.
Each organ and region of the body carries its physical function, but within the Holy Body Mysteries, we also ask: What spiritual wisdom might this part of the body be revealing? What sacred intelligence does it mirror? And what might change when we begin to listen?
Below you will find the Holy Body Mysteries for the Month of Libra.
Kidneys — Mother Anna
Sacred Discernment. The kidneys symbolically separate, filter and maintain equilibrium: what is retained, what is released, what belongs within the inner waters. Mother Anna embodies the wisdom of discernment and preparation—the elder feminine presence, the Matriarch of the Christ Lineage, who knows what must be preserved so that the holy can come into form. Mystically: What do I keep? What do I release? What restores me to balance?
The kidneys invite us into the practice of sacred release—to receive what nourishes us, release what has completed its purpose, and allow our inner waters to keep moving.
Loins — John the Baptist: Consecrated Creative Power. John the Baptist represents tremendous generative force that has been consecrated to purpose. He does not scatter his life-force; everything becomes preparation for the coming of the Christos. The loins therefore are more than sexuality—they are the seat of creative potency and the mystery of knowing when to contain, when to release, and what our life-force is serving. There is also the beautiful biblical language of being “girded about the loins,” which carries readiness, strength and spiritual purpose.
The loins invite us to honor our creative and sexual energy as sacred life-force—allowing it to move, create, rest, and be consciously directed rather than depleted or suppressed.
Appendix — Elizabeth · Sacred Recognition
The appendix contains immune tissue and participates in the body’s immune ecology—a system fundamentally concerned with recognition, discernment, and appropriate response. Elizabeth carries a remarkable parallel mystery. When Mary approaches her, Elizabeth recognizes the Holy through her body before the mind could possibly understand what was taking place: the child leaps within her, and she is filled with the Holy Spirit. Elizabeth therefore becomes the archetype of embodied knowing—the capacity to recognize what is true, sacred, and alive through an intelligence deeper than thought. Her story also reminds us that what has been dismissed, overlooked, or believed incapable of bringing forth life may still contain an unexpected sacred purpose. What does my body recognize before my mind understands?
The appendix invites us to listen to the subtle intelligence of the body—to cultivate relationship with the inner signals that tell us what feels nourishing, what requires attention, and what our deeper knowing is already recognizing.
Lumbar Vertebrae — Joseph
Sacred Support. Joseph is the quiet structural presence of the Holy Family—the one who holds, supports, protects and provides a foundation without needing to occupy the center. The lumbar spine literally bears enormous load while allowing the body to remain upright and mobile. Joseph therefore becomes the mystery of support without domination: the sacred masculine as foundation. What holds me when I am carrying the weight of my life?
The lumbar spine asks us to examine how we carry life—to cultivate strength and support while learning that we were never meant to carry every burden alone.
Skin — Mary Magdalene
Sacred Threshold. Skin is neither simply inside nor outside; it is the living threshold through which we touch and are touched. Magdalene’s story is profoundly embodied: anointing, tears, hair, fragrance, touch, presence. She represents the mystery of sacred boundary without separation—the place where intimacy and sovereignty meet. Can I remain fully myself while allowing myself to be touched by Life?
The skin teaches us the sacred art of boundary and communion—to protect what is within while remaining receptive to touch, relationship, pleasure, beauty, and the living world around us.
Through the Sacred Anatomy of Libra, balance becomes something far more profound than perfect symmetry.
It becomes relational intelligence.
Mother Anna teaches us to discern.
John the Baptist teaches us to consecrate.
Elizabeth teaches us to recognize.
Joseph teaches us to support and be supported.
Mary Magdalene teaches us to enter sacred relationship without abandoning ourselves.
Together, they reveal the living movement of Libra: holding and releasing, giving and receiving, strength and softness, self and other, boundary and communion.
Each body part also corresponds to an Aramaic – Hebrew letter, but that is a lot more complicated and detailed to get into!
Perhaps true balance is not a state we finally achieve, it is a relationship we continually enter—a sacred conversation between ourselves and our bodies, ourselves and one another, ourselves and the Earth, ourselves and the Divine.
Let us remember that the body is also a spiritual map.
Sacred Anatomy does not suggest that spiritual practice replaces the physical care of the body. Rather, it asks what wisdom each part of the body may invite us to contemplate and embody.
I am wishing all of you a blessed Libra Season.
