The Feast of the Birth of the Blessed Virgin Mary
The Eve of a New Dawn
On September 8th we celebrate the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary. This is the commemoration of a profound revelation of the Divine Feminine entering the world in flesh and form, preparing the way for the Incarnation of the Christ Light.
According to the Protoevangelium of James, Mary’s parents, Joachim and Anna, carried the sorrow of barrenness for many years. In her longing, Anna lifted her heart to God and vowed that if she were granted a child, she would dedicate her entirely to the service of the Divine. Under a laurel tree, in her place of exile and emptiness, Anna prayed with faith. Her prayer was answered, and from her womb came the child destined to become the vessel of the Logos: Mary, the Mother of the Messiah.
Mary’s birth carries layers of spiritual meaning that reach far beyond history:
The End of Barrenness, the Birth of Hope
Anna’s barrenness is a mystical symbol of humanity’s longing, the empty well awaiting water. Mary’s nativity is the first flow of living water, the sign that redemption is near.
Shekhinah in Flesh
Mary is the embodiment of the Shekhinah, the Divine Presence clothed in humanity. In her very birth, the feminine vessel of light enters the world, preparing to receive and birth the Christ Mystery.
The Eighth Day — New Creation
The feast is celebrated on September 8th, aligning Mary’s nativity with the number 8, the number of new creation, resurrection, and eternal life. Just as the 8th day goes beyond the cycle of 7, Mary’s birth signals a new cycle of divine-human union.
The Dawn Before the Sun
Mystics call Mary the morning star or the dawn. Her birth is the soft light before sunrise, heralding the coming of the greater light: Christ, the Sun of righteousness.
Heaven and Earth Meet
In Mary, the faithful lineage of Israel (Joachim and Anna) and the eternal purpose of heaven are woven together. Her birth is the hinge of covenant and promise, the union of longing and fulfillment.
The feast of Mary’s nativity is not only about her story, but also about ours.
It teaches us that every barren season, every place of exile, holds within it the seed of divine birth. Anna’s faith became Mary’s fruitfulness. In the same way, our faith and surrender open us to become vessels of the Divine.
Mary’s nativity is the awakening of the Mystical Rose. The bud appears, not yet unfolded, but already fragrant with the promise of what is to come. Her birth tells us that the Divine does not appear suddenly, but prepares the world gently, through cycles of longing, gestation, and arrival.
She is the New Eve, born into a world awaiting restoration. Where Eve’s story begins with exile, Mary’s story begins with return, a return to union, to possibility, to the light of God dwelling among us.
The Feast of the Nativity of Mary is a celebration of hope, faith, and divine preparation. It reminds us that the Light of the Beloved comes into the world through human vessels, through wombs of faith, through barren places made fruitful by trust.
On this day, we are invited to honor not only the birth of Mary, but the birth of our own divine potential. For each of us carries within the capacity to be a vessel of light, a dwelling place of God, a bearer of the eternal union.
The Rose has been born. The dawn has broken. The Light is on its way.
On this day let us be mindful with our words. The pure Logos of Mother Ann brought forth the miracle of life. Our words create light or darkness, the more light the faster the manifestation of our Soul Purpose, healing and awakening. In every word, action, intention that we creare, call upon the Light of Mother Mary.
Sending so much love to all of you.
AHAVA,
Ana Otero
